About Sir Baniyas Island, Abu Dhabi
As one of the largest natural islands in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, Sir Bani Yas Island is home to one of Arabia’s largest wildlife reserves and the "Greening of the Desert" programme, established in 1971 by the late ruler and founder of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Today, after decades of intensive conservation work, his legacy lives on with the new Arabian Wildlife Park, home to thousands of free roaming animals and birds, several million trees and plants, breeding programmes for endangered species and numerous exciting tourism activities.
As a guest to Sir Bani Yas Island you can view nature through a range of fun activities, each designed to showcase this unique environment, from peaceful Guided Walks and Kayaking on waterways, to the thrills of getting up close and personal with the animals on a Nature & Wildlife Drive or Mountain Biking.
